Measures of Student Achievement and Success
Student achievement at our school is based on the guidelines established in the OCDSB Policy and Procedures for Student Evaluation. Our teachers use a variety of assessment and evaluation methods to monitor student achievement including daily observation, thought journals, performance tasks, tests, projects and response journals. All assessments are utilized to effectively inform teaching and learning strategies. We use student portfolios and student-led conferences as a means to communicate to parents their child’s progress.
School Improvement Plans for Student Achievement and Initiatives
We develop our School Improvement Plan for Student Achievement (SIPSA) defining our strengths and areas for growth to ensure continued student success and improvement. The focus of our SIPSA is critical thinking, to have students make judgments based on criteria established; justify choices using meta cognition and reflection. We have included Character Education books as part of our Critical Literacy discussion and continue to work with Garfield Gini-Newman and the Thinking Consortium.
