Welcome Back!
Posted on 09/10/2020

Welcome back FPSA!
Staff have been busy preparing the building, classrooms and curriculum for a safe and enjoyable back to school start up. This is going to be a unique year, but we know that together we can learn and navigate these new circumstances in a positive and safe way.

Start Dates & Times
Grade 7 students will begin school on Wednesday, September 16th and continue regular attendance from that point forward.
The first day of school for Grade 8 students will be on Thursday, September 17th and continue with regular attendance from that point forward.
Students who have opted for remote learning will receive information regarding their start dates etc...from the Ottawa Carleton Virtual Elementary program.

Please note that the start time to the day is at 8:45 a.m. and the dismissal is at 3:15. In order to follow various health and safety protocols, students are not to arrive at school prior to 8:40 and upon their arrival are to go directly to their class line up.

Parents and students will receive an email with further instructions about the first day of school and video examples of new procedures to ensure the health and safety of our students.

Students will have two breaks throughout the day where they will be outside in their designated classroom zones. Breaks are from 10:45 - 11:30 and 1:30 - 2:15. Grade 8's are not allowed off property this year.

School Supplies & Organization
School supplies are always a big part of back to school preparation. This year, as we prepare for school with COVID-19, we need to focus on bringing as few things into the classroom as possible.

  • Bring a backpack and litterless lunch every day.
  • Students need a mask every day (a reusable mask will be provided).
  • A refillable water bottle as fountains are no longer in use.
  • Students will not have lockers this year.
  • School supplies are voluntary. The school will have supplies available for students. Some families prefer to buy them, and if so, this voluntary supply list provides an idea of the kinds of supplies that are used by grade.
  • School supplies cannot be shared between students in order to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and other viruses. Therefore, consider all things a student might require (pencil sharpener, eraser, ruler, geometry set, scissors, glue, a French English dictionary, one binder with binder dividers etc...).
  • Students will be keeping all supplies at their desk.
